Achievements
Submitted New Funding Proposal and One Million Genomes Alignment: In 2025, BBMRI.gr submitted a major national funding proposal aligned with the One Million Genomes initiative, strengthening population-scale genomics, data interoperability and Greece’s contribution to European precision medicine. The proposal integrates the Greek Genome Center and promotes the use of AI tools for largescale data analysis and cross-border research collaboration.
Expansion of the National Biobanking Network: The BBMRI.gr network expanded through the integration of new hospital- and research-based biobanks, including biobanks of isolated regions, viromes and Alzheimer’s biobanks, increasing geographic coverage, sample diversity and representation of the Greek population under harmonised quality standards.
Social Science Integration and Governance Strengthening: Collaboration with the National Center for Social Research (EKKE) advanced social science integration, reinforcing ethical governance, public engagement and societal impact assessment.
