Who we are
The BBMRI-ERIC Public Affairs (PA) team strengthens the infrastructure by fostering close relationships and dialogue with key stakeholders across our Member and Observer countries, other research infrastructures and European and international bodies. We build bridges between science and policy, thereby supporting biobanking and research communities move towards “Biobanking for a Healthier World”.
What we do
The PA team maintains strategic relations with our Members and Observers and serves as the primary contact point for countries interested in joining BBMRI-ERIC. We work closely with ministry representatives, national delegates, EU institutions, international organisations, and other research infrastructures to raise visibility, shape the research-policy landscape and promote sustainable collaboration at European and international levels. We also coordinate and contribute to BBMRI-ERIC’S participation in European projects and strategic partnerships. In addition, we lead the BBMRI-ERIC Stakeholder Forum, where we have structured engagement with patient organisations and citizens through the BBMRI-ERIC Stakeholder Forum Patients and Citizens’ Pillar, ensuring that patients’ perspectives are meaningfully reflected and heard in our core activities.
Why it matters
As a distributed European research infrastructure, BBMRI-ERIC brings together a large community of Members and Observers. Maintaining strong and sustained relationships with our funders, community and stakeholders is essential to our mission. These connections help shape science policy, increase the visibility and impact of biobanking and ensure that BBMRI-ERIC efforts are recognized at national, European, and international level.
