The webinar will take place on 16 October 2026, 10:30-11:45 CEST
ATTENTION:To attend the live webinar, participants must possess a copy of CEN/TS 17626:2021 for licensing purposes.
Summary:
The webinar series is held in the context of the EU project CaBRIOH and co-organised by CaBRIOH project partner Medical University of Graz(BBMRI.at coordinator) and the BBMRI-ERIC Academy. It focuses on the European Technical Specification “Molecular in vitro diagnostic examinations – Specifications for pre-examination processes for human specimen – Isolated microbiome DNA”. It gives insight into the document clause by clause and provides as background information scientific evidence and rational as well as practical tips for users of CEN/TS 17626.
Part 4: Clause 6 “Inside the laboratory”
This webinar addresses the workflows for microbiome DNA isolation that occur within the laboratory. This starts from receiving and processing the samples, through the critical DNA isolation procedures, quantity and quality assessment, and finally storage of the isolated DNA.
Speaker
Dominic O’Neil, M.S., M.B.A (QIAGEN)
Host
Dr. Maike Tauchert
After watching the webinar, participants will have acquired the following knowledge:
- Identify key steps and considerations when receiving, processing and intermediately storing specimens before DNA isolation
- Understand key considerations for microbiome DNA isolation and the factors that can affect DNA quality and quantity
- Learn about approaches for assessing the quality and quantity of isolated microbiome DNA
- Recognize appropriate storage conditions for isolated microbiome DNA and factors that may affect its stability
