The Network of Czech Biobanks (BBMRI.cz) is the unique national infrastructure in the Czech Republic providing coordinated collection, long-term storage and access to biological samples and associated data for scientific and biomedical research. Established in 2010, BBMRI.cz has developed into a distributed large research infrastructure currently comprising eight biobanks across the country.
The network manages biological material and data from donors with oncological, rheumatological, and hematopoietic disorders, as well as samples from population-based and environmental studies. Achievements
Datafication: All Czech member biobanks have been connected to the BBMRI ERIC Federated Platform, enabling real time discovery of biospecimens and associated clinical (meta)data.
CS-BIQ project: The project connects the national nodes BBMRI.cz and BBMRI.ch with the aim of strengthening the quality and interoperability of biobanking services in both countries.
Focus on patient organisations: Assignment of Memorandum of Understanding with Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer, o.p.s., first educational seminar was managed as part of improvement of awareness of biobanks and biobanking.
